PACT was formed by Greg and Carol Lille because of their commitment to provide a larger retirement preserve for chimpanzees and other great apes. Their commitment
is out of a love for each individual chimpanzee and orangutan that has touched their lives. The love for each individual animal has forged a moral obligation in Greg and Carol for those Great Apes.

The
Lilles began their lifelong commitment to animals in 1972 at Marine World Africa USA. They
have worked with animals for 33 years in both the zoological world
and professional entertainment industry. During the years the Lilles worked at Marine World, Greg was the head chimpanzee keeper. At that time marine World received many calls from people who innocently owned chimpanzees as pets and they were looking for a permanent home for their chimp. Charlie was one of these chimps. He was owned by a young
African missionary family who brought him back to the United States. At that time it was illegal to import chimpanzees from Africa. Marine World did not want the responsibility of more chimpanzees so Greg and Carol took Charlie in and paid for all his housing at Marine World. During Greg and Carol's time at Marine World three more
chimpanzees were rescued by them. The Life long commitment to these animals was the beginning of a growing financial responsibility and a moral commitment to each Chimpanzee. Over the past 33 years they have rescued more chimps and an orangutan. Charlie, who is now 33 years old and all the chimps the
Lillie's have taken in are still with tem to this day.
How would they provide for the lifelong care of each animal?
From 1977 to 1987 the Lilles were contracted by various accredited Zoological and animal parks to produce shows with chimpanzees that were educational and entertaining. Starting in 1988 the Lilles decided to focus on the film and television
industry to provide a larger source of income for the growing responsibility.
In 1996 it became clear to the Lilles that the scope of the financial responsibility for these chimpanzees was more than they as two individuals could provide.
The Lilles formed People and Chimps Together or P.A.C.T.,
a 501 (C) (3) non profit organization, to help provide for the aging chimps their entire natural life, and to build a facility that would allow these chimpanzees to climb in the trees and roll in the grass as they did as youngsters.
This is the goal...the hope.
